• DOG LOVERS UNITE

Our world for homeless dogs is becoming better everyday thanks to the grassroots efforts of rescue organizations around the globe that focus on how to protect a life, make a friend and make critical changes for the future. One person can make a big difference for shelter dogs. All you have to do is take the time to open your eyes and hearts. Rescue groups make the difference everyday by saving dogs that have run out of time!

Please join the Producers of "SMITTY" to become part of the Smitty Nation! Get a chance to have your favorite rescue group featured in this soon to be released feature film. Become part of the solution and visit your local shelter or go on-line to Facebook to join an animal rescue networking group or simply offer to walk your elderly neighbor's dog along with the millions of people who continue to make a difference for animals.

    doggedly yours,
    The SMITTY Team

A Forever Home Rescue Foundation

Chantilly, VA www.aforeverhome.org
We are an all volunteer non-profit organization that rescues homeless dogs. Although based in Northern Virginia, we have built a network of colleagues and supporters all over the country. We pull dogs from high-kill rural shelters in Virginia and West Virginia primarily, but have close relationships with dozens of shelters and rescues up and down the east coast. Our rescue was back-up support for the Vick dogs (the lead Federal agent is a friend); we made 5 trips to the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina; we have been involved in several large-scale puppy mill efforts; we actively work to identify and shut down unscrupulous breeders; and we have assisted in emergency situations ranging from shelters being closed due to sewage problems to large-scale hoarding cases. We work closely with our local State Vet to place dogs they seize from hoarders and abusers. Two of our members serve as Advisors to Virginia Voters for Animal Welfare – a grou p which monitors alleged animal abusers, and also works to strengthen existing animal protection laws and create/pass new ones. We adopt out an average of 1,000 dogs and puppies every year. Every adopter is subjected to two interviews, a vet check, and a home visit, and must agree to take their new dog to training. We make appearances at schools to educate children and appear on Fox 5 in Washington DC at least once per month to advertise current adoptable dogs and any special events we are involved in.
